Dr. Alexis Cox, DVM
Veterinarian
Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Cox earned both her undergraduate degree (Phi Beta Kappa) and her veterinary degree (Cum Laude, 2004) from the University of Georgia. She began her career handling intense emergency cases at a large 24-hour animal hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. In 2006, she moved west to Los Angeles, joining The Pet Doctors of Sherman Oaks, where she has been a dedicated team member ever since. Clinically, she is highly passionate about internal medicine, endocrinology, and radiology.
When she isn't caring for patients, Dr. Cox is an avid painter and gardener. She shares her home with a wonderful menagerie of rescues and exotic pets, including dogs, cats, a roof rat, a bearded dragon, and a diverse collection of frogs, toads, and reptiles. Her love for animals extends globally; she serves as a Trustee on the Advisory Board for the Cheetah Conservation Fund and has volunteered on the ground at their centers in Namibia and Somaliland. An enthusiastic traveler, her favorite adventures so far have taken her to Rwanda, Zambia, and Peru.
